Here we Go

While reading and enjoying many blogs written by friends, athletes, and other figures I look up to in this wonderful world, I have decided to create one myself. Mine will normally be based on training for my 2009-2010 in-line speed season, but I may feel froggy and decide to write about something that actually interest more than two people in the universe. Highly doubtful, so I apologize up front if anyone is expecting me to get philosophical...or however you spell that. Also keep in mind that I've actually been training since a month after ODN(Outdoor Nationals) but just realized that writing this stuff down might make me become even more motivated for this coming season. NOW, with that fresh on your mind here goes the beginning of my training blog. Prepare yourself for boredom...

September 30, 2009
Fortunately, I am an idiot and when I was 18 took a Intro to Fitness and Wellness class that I failed. While, like I stated earlier, say I'm an idiot this actually works out better because now I HAVE to work out at least Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. This is perfect in the sense that I can go skate after my work out. So.....

Nutrition:

  • Breakfast- Spark Energy Drink, (2) sausage biscuits
  • Pre-skate- Clif bar and Powerade
  • Post Skate/Lunch- Diet Mountain Dew, Some Lean Cuisine that was da bomb.
  • Dinner- N/A

Gym Today:

  • Stretched for 10 min.
  • Stair Stepper for 20 min. (and ya I'm that guy that gets the fat boy sweat ring on his shirt and gets the rest of the gym equipment sweaty)
  • Circuit Trained my legs and core. 30 second lifts on machine/weights with 30 seconds rest. I alternated with squats/hamstring curls/solo leg extension/hamstring pulls/leg lifts/low back raises. Now, my circuit is not all that difficult but after a while its tiring. My HR stays high for the most part and I'm constantly doing something.
  • Stretched for 10 min.

On skates: White Rock Lake 9.5 miles, slight wind, mid 80's

  • Worked on Edges and Distance Per Stroke. Also worked on pushing with heel.
  • Time: 36:01 Max HR 188 Avg HR 169
  • 566 Calories Burned

To date, my best time at White Rock with the certain loop I am skating is 33:10. Today was a slower skate, obviously, but my main focus was form and learning to skate properly. Along with the wind I was okay with my performance. Thanks for reading. Ill bore one or two of you tomorrow after my indoor/outdoor with the team.

PS. The Name 4 wheeled chariots is in reference to my skates....I didn't want to say 8 wheeled chariot and have people assume I trained to drive a Peterbilt Big Rig with Trailer.
